Social Justice work has long been part of Unitarian Universalism. Many people are drawn to UU congregations because of our liberal voice in their community. Each congregation is free to choose how and where to focus their social justice energies.

Here at UUCR, we recognize the tangible needs in our community and the many good organizations working hard to meet those needs. Each week, we donate half of the collection plate to local organizations working to make the Rutland area a more just, equitable and livable place for all.

In the past, we were deeply involved in the Health Care is a Human Right campaign and in refugee resettlement. As a small congregation, we are careful to identify the issues we most care about and can most deeply impact. We welcome newcomers and longtime members to work together to extend our liberal voice to the issues facing our world.

If you’d like to nominate a deserving organization for our half-plate initiative, please fill out the form below and email it to uurutland@gmail.com
